SureSeal Adjustment Instructions

SureSeal Adjustment

Initial Adjustments after Installation

A significant number of SureSeal assemblies get installed at a slight angle to the axis of the drive shaft.
This can result in premature leakage, often allowing leaks after the lip seal is changed.

As long as the shaft seal assembly has been in service for no more than 200 hours of run time, an adjustment should be the first step in attempting to correct a leak. An adjustment should also be performed any time a lip seal is replaced.

The adjustment is done by first loosening the hose clamps on the aft, or stern tube, end of the blue hose. Then move the assembly, shaft seal and articulated hose as a unit, fore and aft slightly until it feels like the shaft seal housing is properly centered on the drive shaft. Re-tighten aft hose clamps.
